Silvopasture is a land management practice that combines trees with livestock and forage (pasture / hay) production on the same footprint. The forest is thinned enough to improve or add forage for livestock while the trees are managed for timber or other forest products.
UNH Extension will hold a Silvopasture Twilight Meeting at the Meeh 3 Farm in Canterbury, NH on July 21st from 4 to 5:30 pm.
This tour at Meeh 3 Farm will explore possible forested sites to establish a silvopasture.
We’ll tour the farm to discuss the current pasture and discuss the need for and use of an additional silvopasture. We’ll discuss soils, forest conditions, next steps, and tradeoffs to establishing a silvopasture.
UNH Extension and Natural Resources Conservation Service staff will be on hand to guide the discussion.
