Dr. Jeremy S. Fried is a Research Forester with the USDA Forest Service at PNW Research Station.. He has been working with the Forest Service Research and Development for 22 years.
Dr. Fried’s research addresses problems and opportunities related to the management of U.S. forests, informed by inventory science and data. He has evaluated, at landscape scale, the trajectories of stand-level forest fire hazard with and without management using the BioSum modeling framework. This framework also returns insights on the potential supply of merchantable wood and sub merchantable wood suitable for biomass-based bioenergy, transportation fuels or biochar in connection with landscape fuel treatments, and the greenhouse gas mitigation implications of treatment alternatives.
