Pennsylvania has more than 86,000 miles of streams, more than any other state. Most of our streams run through our forest lands and woodlots, but many run through fields and yards, as well. Forested buffers are critical in protecting streams from polluted runoff from neighboring lands and providing shade to keep waters cool for fish habitats.

Penn State Extension will hold two one-hour Streamside Buffers and Live Stake Planting webinars about the importance of woodland buffers along streams and to discuss ways to repair eroding banks and what trees to plant.

These webinars will discuss:

  • Eroding banks
  • Property loss
  • Trees as the perfect solution
  • Streamside riparian buffer
  • In-stream live stake plantings
