UNH Extension will hold a The Business of Growing Christmas Trees workshop on July 31st from 4 to 6 pm at South Farm in Bethlehem, NH.
In this workshop, long-time Christmas tree grower Nigel Manley will provide demonstrations on shearing and basal pruning, mowing, and monitoring for insect and disease issues.
An expert on Christmas tree pests and diseases will also be on hand to answer questions, along with Jim Frohn, UNH Cooperative Extension Forester for Grafton County.
This is the first in a series of learning sessions on The Business of Growing Christmas Trees – From Site Selection to Sales. Other sessions being planned include the following (final dates will be announced soon):
- November – Harvesting, Marketing & Sales, Replanting
- January or February 2025 – Business management for Christmas Tree Growers
- April 2025 – Site selection and soil testing, site preparation, planting, weed control, fertilizing
Attendees are welcome to participate in any or all of the four workshops offered in this series.
Registration for this first workshop is due by July 25th. There is a $30 per person registration fee for this event.
