UNH Extension will hold a Timber Harvest Tour of a recently harvested forest in Campton, NH on July 23rd from 4 to 6 pm
This is a tour of a recently harvested forest on a 160 acre private property that focuses on white pine and red oak management.
Shaun Laqueux (private consulting forester) will guide us through this recent harvest where he will explain the role of a forester working on private lands and this approach to forest management.
On the tour, we’ll see a variety of harvest types including “group” and “shelterwood” cuts, and we’ll also describe what those cuts are and why they were used during this harvest. We will explore other considerations such has forest health and pests and wildlife habitat management.
