North Caroline State University Extension will hold a Timber Tax: Dealing with Loss from Hurricane Helene and other Landowner Issues and Considerations webinar on October 30th from 1 to 2 pm ET

In this one-hour webinar, Kevin Burkett from Clemson’s Tax School and Kurt Smith from NC State will provide an update of Hurricane Helene timber damage, and strategies for capturing losses for tax purposes, as well as an overview on various timber tax topics.

Topics covered will include timber basis, IRS distinctions between a business, investment or a hobby, when is a back cruise helpful in determining taxes, when to use form T, and a host of other helpful topics for a landowner considering tax implications and best strategies relating to timber.
