Did severe weather damage your timber or disrupt your Vermont logging business in 2023 or 2024?  If so, you may be eligible to receive assistance from the Vermont Agriculture and Timber Disaster Assistance Program (VATDAP).

The Vermont Disaster Assistance Program webinar will be held on October 20th from 5:30 to 7 pm.

In the program’s first phase, eligible timber landowners and contracted loggers may receive 95% of eligible losses, up to $75,000. The program is noncompetitive: applicants who demonstrate eligible losses will receive payment.

Assistance may cover:

  • Standing and harvested timber losses
  • Forest stewardship plan updates needed for recovery
  • Certain logger recovery costs to reopen damaged harvest sites and restore Acceptable Management Practices

Most application types require an assessment by a licensed forester. Required assessment costs are reimbursable even if the losses ultimately do not qualify for payment.
