Vernal pools are small but mighty ecosystems.  Their tiny size and fleeting nature belies their outsized contribution to the ecological health of forests.  These temporary wetlands host diverse insects, amphibians and other creatures and provide critical breeding habitat for amphibians and food for forest birds and mammals.

Vermont Land Trust will hold a Vernal Pool Walk at the Barre Town Forest in Barre, VT on April 30th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm..

The walk will explore two state-significant vernal pools and discuss the creatures that depend on these springtime pools.
