Vinica Brook is a cold‑water stream in Hampden County, Massachusetts, and is the focus of a major watershed restoration project to remove dams and culverts, reconnecting over 14 miles of streams and restoring more than 300 acres of wetlands.
The Norcross Wildlife Foundation will hold a Vinica Brook Restoration webinar on Saturday, September 12th from10 am to noon.
The Norcross Wildlife Foundation is undertaking one of the largest stream and freshwater restoration projects in Massachusetts. This ambitious effort brings together regional and national conservation organizations, including Mass Audubon, American Rivers, faculty and students from UMass Amherst, and staff from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.
Restoring natural stream processes is critical for improving water quality, reconnecting wildlife habitat, increasing climate resilience, and benefiting both ecosystems and surrounding communities.
This presentation by Ed Hood from Norcross and Alex Hackman from Mass Audubon will provide an overview of the project’s vision, goals, and regional significance.
