The Western Mass Tree Wardens will hold their summer dinner meeting on Thursday, June 15 from 5 – 7:30 pm at the Bluebonnet Banquet Hall in Northampton.
The dinner will have two speakers on the utilization of urban wood – a woodworker who creates live edge planks for use in a variety of products and another who has a homemade bandsaw mill used to process urban wood. Every street tree will eventually die and utilization of this material rather than discarding it can help continue to keep carbon locked inside the wood.
The other presentation will be by Nicole Keleher, DCR’s Forest Health Program Director. Nicole will share the latest information about invasive pests and diseases affecting our forests, with a special focus on beech leaf disease, which is spreading rapidly in parts of Massachusetts (see below).
The cost of the meeting is $40, and includes the Bluebonnet’s famous buffet dinner. MFA is co-sponsoring the meeting along with the Tree Wardens, and forester license credits will be available.
You can register online for the meeting at Western Mass Tree Wardens Summer 2023 Meeting (constantcontact.com) ..Registration closes June 10th.
