Wildlife Data & Monitoring Workshop

Yale Forests will hold a Wildlife Data & Monitoring Workshop at Yale-Myers Forest in Eastford, CT on July 23^rd from 10 am to 3 pm

Wildlife ecologist Brett Furnas (’99 MF; California Department of Fish & Wildlife) will lead a workshop on research design, implementation, and analysis for wildlife monitoring.

This all-day workshop will have two parts: a morning outdoor walking tour to wildlife research sites at Yale-Myers Forest, and an afternoon classroom-based workshop on wildlife occupancy modelling in R.

Attendees are welcome to attend the entire day for a holistic introduction to wildlife research, or to attend just the morning or just the afternoon you prefer. Please see the additional description below for more details about each part of the event.

Morning: The morning field tour will take place outside at Yale-Myers Forest in Eastford, CT. Participants will travel distances of up to 1/2 mile on foot between research sites. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing that is comfortable for the day’s weather, and to bring lunch and a water bottle.

Afternoon: This part of the workshop will take place in a classroom at Yale-Myers Forest. Participants should bring their own computer if they want to follow along individually. Participants will be provided R code and a sample data set. This part of the workshop will not provide basic instruction in how to use R.
