Southern Regional Extension Forestry will hold a one-hour webinar on Wood Energy Options- Save Money and Reduce Your Carbon Footprint on Thursday, December 20th at 1 pm EST.

This presentation, by Lew McCreery from the USDA Wood Education & Resource Center, provides an overview of:

  • why to use wood energy,
  • key components of wood energy systems,
  • important steps in the design of wood energy systems,
  • support available from the Forest Service Wood Energy Technical Assistance Team,
  • some new wood energy technologies,
  • and several project examples.

As Regional Woody Biomass Coordinator, Mr. McCreery oversees efforts to increase the use of woody biomass for energy and value-added products across the 20-state region. Mr. McCreery is also the leader of the WERC Wood Energy Technical Assistance Team that provides hands-on assistance to building owners interested in using wood energy in their facility. The Team focus is on implementing high efficiency projects that meet the owners needs while minimizing project costs.

Mr. McCreery has been involved in the use of wood energy since 1985.
