Company: Lashway Lumber
Larry Lashway was born into the lumber business. He began working at the family’s full-service lumber mill, Lashway Lumber in Williamsburg, MA, as a teenager. Today he is Vice President and fourth-generation Owner of the company, working alongside his father, Gerald, who proudly maintains his position as lead sawyer.
Today the mill’s capabilities have expanded to include custom sawing, kiln drying, woodlot management and logging services. Larry, who’s worked in all aspects of the mill and logging business, is taking the company in exciting new directions. Lashway Lumber now kiln-dries baseball bats for major league baseball and guitar parts for major guitar companies including C.F. Martin, Gibson and Fender.
The mill also provides lumber to Ponders Hollow Custom Flooring & Millwork, another Lashway family business, that’s run by Larry’s brother, Gerry. The two businesses were featured in a segment, “Wood from Forest to Floors,” on WGBY public television’s program, Connecting Point, in March 2014.
Larry is a member of New England Kiln Drying Association (NEKDA) board of directors, and a member of Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA), Commonwealth Quality , The Guild of American Luthiers, and the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).
Larry is married with two children. When he isn’t busy at the mill he enjoys skiing, motocross and all major league sporting events.
