The Massachusetts Statewide Wood Energy Team is holding a Berkshire County Modern Wood Heat Tour on March 15th featuring wood heat installations in northern and southern Berkshire County. This tour will let participants see a wide variety of wood heating systems in different applications, including systems that use the three common forms of wood fuels: cordwood, wood chips and wood pellets.
In the morning, the tour will visit Mass MOCA’s large wood pellet system in North Adams and the cordwood-fired system at the Buxton School in Williamstown. The group will gather at the DCR headquarters in Pittsfield for lunch and a presentation by Jon Parrott (DOER) on state financial assistance in converting to modern wood heat. After lunch, the group will tour the pellet system at the DCR headquarters. In the afternoon, we will tour Gould Farm’s new wood chip fired district heating system in Monterey, and the pellet heating system at Southern Berkshire Regional School.
Please see attached document for more details. This event is free, however we are asking participants to register so that we have an accurate headcount.
