Can you grow quality timber and livestock on the same acreage?
The Rhode Island Tree Farm Program will hold an Agroforestry Tree Farm Tour at the Wild Harmony Farm property along Route 102 in Exeter, RI on Saturday, October 24th from 10 am to Noon.
Wild Harmony Farm, a certified organic and regenerative livestock farm operated by Ben Coerper and Rachel Slatter, has been utilizing this grazing method for several years to produce high-quality beef products, along with pork and chicken, sold at its on-site farm stand.
The Tree Farm tour will allow participants to view the recent establishment of a new woodland grazing area on the farm, part of a growing number of agroforestry operations in New England. Come learn about how you might be able to grow trees for high quality wood products while also raising quality livestock on the same acreage.
The site is part of a series of demonstration sites that are being established throughout New England by a federally funded program through the University of New Hampshire.
Wild Harmony Farm is part of the Chafee family’s Wee Hoose Tree Farm property, located at 366 Victory Highway, Exeter. Access gates for the tour site will be posted along Victory Highway.
