Vermont Woodlands Association and the Vermont Tree Farm Program will hold the 2026 Vermont Tree Farm Celebration at the Hinesburg Town Forest in Hinesburg, VT on Saturday, September 12th from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
The Celebration will feature 4 guided tours highlighting different aspects of management and use of the 1,100 acre town forest. Tours include:
Forestry & Birding
Explore active forest management with local foresters and Audubon Vermont’s Steve Hagenbuch. See how timber management can improve bird habitat, forest health, and resilience.
Reading the Forest: Exploring the History of the Land
Discover cellar holes, stone walls, and other clues that reveal how centuries of human use shaped the forest we see today.
See Forestry on a Mountain Bike Wheels
Experience the Town Forest by mountain bike while learning about trail stewardship, recreation, and forest management. Participants should bring their own bike.
Family Friendly Reptile & Amphibian Exploration
Search for salamanders, frogs, and reptiles while learning how forests and wetlands work together—and how families can support wildlife at home.
