The Wildlands Trust will hold a two day Basic Chainsaw Skills for Trails course on March 30th & 31st from 8 am to 5 pm at the Stewardship Training Center in Plymouth.

This training will include basic chainsaw safety, use, and equipment maintenance. Participants will gain basic skills for addressing tree issues on trails.

The first day will focus on Game of Logging’s Level 1 course, and the second will focus on techniques for storm damage clean-up. The course will be taught by Game of Logging instructor Bill Girard.

Cost of the course is $250 per person.

Overnight lodging is available at the Stewardship Training Center in dorm-style bedrooms (registration for lodging can be found at checkout).

Lunch will be provided; please specify any dietary related restrictions in your registration!

Participants should bring their own equipment for the course, including:

  • Gas or electric powered chainsaw
  • Chainsaw safety chaps
  • Ear protection (either over ear or ear plugs)
  • Safety glasses or face shield
  • Chainsaw safety helmet
  • Chainsaw sharpening tools if you have them
  • Notebook and writing utensils
  • Adequate weather gear as portions of the class will be conducted outside.

This training will be held rain or shine.  Class will only be canceled for heavy snow, high winds, or thunder + lightning
