Caring for the Woods in Your Backyard Field Tour

East Quabbin Land Trust will hold a Caring for the Woods in Your Backyard Field Tour of a recently harvested property in Oakham on April 8^th at 4 pm.

This field trip is a continuation of the landowner workshop series “Woods and Watershed in Your Backyard” and an opportunity for participants to experience a recent timber sale in Oakham.

On the tour, the consulting forester and landowner will share their goals and guiding principles for the harvest. The site visit will include discussion around regeneration, skid road layout, buffers of wetlands and stream crossings. We will also learn about how climate change and invasive species affect the planning and implementation of timber harvesting in our region.

No registration necessary.

Participants should dress for the weather and walking in the woods during tick season.
