Froling Energy will hold a series of weekly one hour Biomass Energy Webinars on Thursdays between February 25th and March 25th discussing different aspects of using biomass to provide reliable, cost effective heat.

The last webinar in this series, Clean Central Biomass Heat for Nursing Homes, will be held on March 25th at 3 pm

Nursing homes and other large centrally heated institutional buildings like hospitals, independent living and healthcare facilities adapt well to conversions to biomass boiler systems. As building managers look for ways to “green up” their facilities, one of their biggest considerations is the requirement for large quantities of high temperature heat. Which “green fuel” can do that? Biomass can.

Cost is also a very big concern: initial system cost and future fuel costs. That is best described as Return on Investment–and it is excellent with Froling Energy’s PDC dried wood chips, breaking even in as short as 7 years when compared to oil. PDCs have proved to be the better path with very low heating costs and best price-stability.

Other concerns such as low particulate emissions, fully automatic operation and low maintenance have been met by the latest generation of biomass boilers such as made by Schmid of Switzerland.

This presentation will break down a significant project that Froling Energy was involved with in 2018 and 2019: Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, NH. We were the main mechanical contractor in a 3 phase project that completely renovated the facility and added a whole new 4 story wing.

A 4.2 million BTU/hour Schmid UTSK biomass boiler fitted out to burn Froling Energy’s PDCs—a screened, dried bole wood chip that is now processed in our new plant in Keene, NH. The project delivers heat to the entire facility that will have a very stable low net cost: equivalent to buying $2 oil at 85 cents a gallon.

Froling Energy’s President and Project Manager, Mark Froling and Toby Wells will host this review of this extensive nursing home renovation.
