Eastern Connecticut Forest Landowners Association and Wolf Den Land Trust invite you to a tour of a newly completed wildlife habitat project in Mansfield CT. The goal of the project (3 patch cuts) is to develop thick, young, woody growth which many species of wildlife such as migratory songbirds need to thrive. This kind of habitat is rare in southern New England and populations are in decline as a result. We will also see 25 acres of thinning to enhance growing conditions for the residual oak stand.
Consultant forester Marc Tremblay prepared the Forest Stewardship Plan and Mike Bartlett of Hull Forest Products purchased the timber and supervised the harvest. Gerry Knowlton of Ashford was the harvester.
