The U S Forest Service will hold a Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Tech Transfer Webinar on Wednesday, June 17th from 1 to 3 pm EDT.

In this webinar, Forest Biometrician Mark Castle will explain usage of the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Program’s volume, biomass, and carbon computation methods in the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) software system

This webinar will provide:

  • An overview on how to implement the FIA volume, biomass, and carbon (FIAVBC) computation methods in the FVS, including National Scale Volume and Biomass Estimators (NSVB) and regional equations for woodland species.
  • Details on what FVS database inputs to include to successfully use the FIAVBC methods and how to invoke these methods in FVS simulations.
  • Exploration of new volume, biomass, and carbon simulation output.
