UNH Extension and the New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association will hold a Hardwood Log Grading Scaling Workshop at the Wagner Log Yard in Errol, New Hampshire on March 23rd from 1 to 4 pm
UNH Cooperative Extension’s Ray Berthiaume, Coos County Forester, and Wagner Forest Management’s Scott Rineer, Regional Manager, will lead the workshop identifying hardwood log species, observing the variety of log grades and the defects that affect those grades.
They will also discuss the different markets available for the species and grades of hardwood saw logs that are produced in the North Country.
Participants should bring hardhats, if available, clothing and footwear suitable for weather and conditions for this time of year. We will be in and around an active log yard so appropriate dress and safety is required. (Some hardhats and ear plugs will be available if necessary)
This workshop has been approved for 3.0 New Hampshire PLP credits, and 2.5 SAF CEUs.
Cost of this program is $75 for NHTOA members, $125 for non-members.
