Penn State Extension will hold two one-hour Maple Syrup: A Beginners Experience webinars on October 10th at noon and 7 p.m.
Scott Weikert, Forest Resources Extension Educator, Penn State Extension, will describe the basics of making maple syrup using experience from his first attempt as the basis for the presentation.
He will talk about how to tap trees and collect sap with buckets and tubing, as well as evaporator and filtering options with emphasis on the techniques he used. He will also discuss things that went wrong and how to correct those issues to make a more efficient operation for the future.
