Timber taxes are one of the major expenses every private forest landowner needs to take care of. Federal and state incentives are available to provide tax relief to qualified forest landowners. However, many of them continue to pay more than their fair share due to lack of knowledge on timber taxation. The recent tax reform added more complexity to it.
This course, presented by Dr. Yanshu Li, Professor of Timber Taxation & Forest Economics at Warnell, will provide basic information about forest-related federal income taxation and property taxes in Georgia. It will also give an update on the recent tax reform and how it affects your tax return for 2020.
