Tornado damage

There will be a Tornado Forest Restoration Information meeting at the Ashfield Town Hall on Thursday April 13th from 6:30 to 8 pm to provide information to woodland owners how to get their woodlands which received damage from the February 25th tornado cleaned up and made safe.

The unusual tornado on February 25th caused extensive tree damage in woodland  in Goshen, Ashfield and Conway.  The state Farm Service Agency has been approved to provide Emergency Forest Restoration Program funding to landowners whose woodlands and trees were seriously damaged by the storm.  The signup period to apply for EFRP funding to help cleanup woodlands runs from April 3rd to May 3rd.

This information meeting will explain how to apply for EFRP funds to help clean up your damaged woodland, what permits are needed to cleanup the tree damage, and how to find qualified foresters and loggers to get your woods cleaned up.

For more information, call DCR forester Alison Wright-Hunter at 413 262-2370 or email her at Alison.wright@state.ma.us.
