The Conway Forests & Trails Committee will hold a Town Farm Forest Walk on Saturday, June 18th, from 9:30am to noon.
Local consulting forester Mary Wigmore and DCR District Forester, Alison Hunter Wright will lead this hike through the 100-acre town-owned forest on Cricket Hill Road. On the walk. they will discuss the forest’s resiliency and its vulnerabilities to the predicted effects of climate change. Participants can explore the structural complexity and biodiversity of this hilltop forest ecosystem and learn how it can function as a nature-based climate solution.
Participants should wear sturdy shoes and bring water and bug repellent (ticks are common) as the hike will traverse 2 to 2.5 miles on rough terrain and take about 2 to 2.5 hours.
Due to parking limitations and to ensure that everyone can hear the discussions, participation will be limited to 15 people. To register, call Mary Wigmore at 413-628-4594, or register at this link: https://forms.gle/98tNQWfM8C9tuLLq5.
Directions for the hike location and parking will be given upon registration.
In event of rain on the 18th, the tour will be held on the 19th at the same time.
