Mass Audubon, in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (MA DCR), is sponsoring the second annual trail building and stewardship training series for Massachusetts land managers, conservation professional and volunteer trail stewards.

Participants in the Trail Building & Stewardship Skills workshop on October 6th & 7th will work with Timber and Stone, LLC, a professional trail building company based in Montpelier, VT. They will learn how to design and construct two foot bridges and a series of short re-routed sections of trail.

Instructors will also discuss wildlife considerations, permit acquisition, how to manage and maintain trails for a variety of users including motorized and non-motorized trails, project site risk management, and how to lead volunteers to accomplish project goals.

The Mass Audubon Trail Building and Stewardship Training Series is a technical skills training available to all conservation professional and volunteers in Massachusetts at a low cost course tuition of $25 per person per day.
