Have you ever wondered why trees are harvested on protected watershed land and why recently harvested areas look the way they do? Are you curious how active management of a forest can increase diversity and maintain forest health?
DCR’s Division of Water Supply Management will hold an Understanding Watershed Forestry Management program on Sunday, February 25th from 2 to 3 pm at the Quabbin Visitors Center in Belchertown. The program will be both in-person and online.
At this program, a DCR-DWSP forester will explain the benefits of a managed forest and the objectives and conditions that dictate when, where, and how trees are harvested.
