How are trees growing in Vermont? Are we overharvesting or is growth outpacing harvests? Is mortality rising in Vermont forests due to Emerald ash borers or spruce budworm? How do we know?
Vermont Woodlands Association will hold a What is FIA webinar on September 15th from 6:30 to 8 pm.
The U S Forest Service’s Forest Inventory & Analysis Program remeasures permanent forest plots across Vermont and other states every five to ten years. Those measurements answer important questions about land use, tree health, forest composition and forest carbon in Vermont.
William Van Doren, a Forest Biometrician with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, will discuss the nationwide Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Program and how it helps guide management research.
Forestry credits are available for this webinar.
