Every year, the Forest Alliance presents awards to recognize outstanding work by landowners, foresters or forest industry people. MFA is now accepting nominations for the Howard Mason Forester of the Year Award and the Douglas Cook Wood Producer of the Year Award. Awards will be presented at the MFA Annual Meeting this fall.
Howard F. Mason Forester of the Year Award
This annual award is named for Howard F. Mason, a pioneering award-winning forester from western Massachusetts who helped mentor and train countless younger foresters and played a leading role in the forestry community. The award recognizes a forester who exemplifies Howard’s excellence in forestry, honesty and integrity, and willingness to help mentor and educate others in the field. The Mason Award is presented at MFA’s Annual Meeting in the fall.
We’re now accepting nominations for the 2021 Mason Award. There are two ways to nominate someone. You can use an easy online form to submit your nomination, or you can download and print a paper form which you can mail in.

Douglas B. Cook Wood Producer of the Year Award
This annual award is named for Doug Cook, a forest products company owner and active MFA board member who passed away in 2018. The award recognizes a timber harvester, sawmill operator, or other forest products professional who exemplifies Doug’s spirit of innovation and leadership within the industry. The Cook Award is presented at MFA’s Annual Meeting in the fall.
