The Massachusetts Maple Producers Association will hold its Annual Meeting, Trade Show and Workshop on Saturday, January 12th, at Mohawk Trail Regional High School in Buckland from 9 am to 3 pm.

Dr. Abby van den Berg of the University of Vermont’s Proctor Maple Research Center will give an afternoon workshop on tapping guidelines and sanitation, as well as other research being conducted at Proctor. Dr. van den Berg’s research focuses on the ecophysiology of maple sugaring, including the effects of tapping and sugaring on tree growth and health, the physiology of stem pressure and carbohydrates in sap, and development of management practices and tapping guidelines to ensure the long-term sustainability of maple syrup production.
