New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association will hold a Safe and Productive Felling workshop at the Hay Forest Reservation in Newbury, NH on May 7th from 8 am to 3 pm

 

This workshop will cover:

Chainsaw care, maintenance, and safety features.

Proper starting and operation.

Demonstration of cutting techniques.

Hands-on practice with basic cutting on a tall “stump”.

Instruction on safe preparation of area around trees to be felled, looking for and removing hazards, gauging direction of lean and where the weight of the tree lies, planning escape routes,

Mechanics of open notching, bore cutting, limbing, bucking, etc.

Individuals begin practice felling trees with instructors advising.

Safety discussion and demonstration on limbing techniques and safety, relieving tension, hung-up trees, bucking techniques and utilization.

Time allowing, limbing and bucking will be practiced.
